Cowabunga Stacita!
This past weekend, I went surfing for the third or fourth time in my life (twice? in Jersey, once in Costa Rica) and I finally FINALLY stood up and rode a wave all the way to the shore line!!! A-Funk and I went to women's surf camp in San Diego and on the second day of the clinic, I found the golden wave, launched, and stood up -- screaming and holding peace signs in the air. The feeling of letting a wave take control over you as you harnass its energy is incredible... I also have to say that standing up is such a feeling of personal accomplishment and it's awesome to feel as if you've placed another checkmark in the life scorecard.
PLUS ... I officially have something in common with Eddie Vedder.

Stacita at Work
Oops. Randomly overheard by Stacita whilst picking up lunch:
Morty's Deli Guy: (hands bag of two sandwiches (soy Reubens) to Stacita) Yours is the one on top - you're on top.
Stacita's reply: Good. That's the way I like it.

Voice
I'm in Tucson, AZ right now... cleaning out my Gramps' apartment. He kept EVERYTHING. Birth certificates, social security cards, my father's report cards, my grandmother's transcript, every card, letter and anything I ever sent him. Talk about pack rat. (But secretly, it's amazing.)
By far, the most incredible thing I ever found are these audio recordings -- blank tapes that my grandparents would use to tape noises. They have me crying as a baby, and best of all, four years of Passover seders with Gramps leading the meal (1986-1989). It's unbelievable, somehow, I now have this captured moment of time of his voice, and he was so happy just to hear his 9-old granddaughter sing the four questions (in better Hebrew than she could now!) and occasionally throw in a "cha-cha-cha" or bang on the table during Dayenu.
Lucky.

Class of 2007?
My fabulous roommate, the Leader, just finished her last law school final ever yesterday. Graduation for Boalt, Class of 2007 is on Saturday morning at the Greek Theater in the Berk. (And all jokes front and center!! Bar/Bri starts soon!! HA HA!! Sorry.)
I can't believe a year has passed. Graduation from law school was one of my greatest accomplishments, hands down. It was more than just the feat of completing a difficult academic path, but it was about proving to myself that I was capable of achieving so much in the process -- independence, identity, growth, and maturity. I am truly thankful for my education, not just my studies.
And now, a year has gone by. This morning I was in court. I was on the Record as a HOT DAG. I won my motion. Who would have thought that one year ago, this would have been possible. Certainly not me. I stay focused in my humility sometimes, but also in my moments of complete WTF?!?! How I got here, who knows.
To the Class of 2007, celebrate. Now is the time for nostalgia, for congratulations to one another, and to enjoy each other. Don't worry about the future, just indulge yourself in the moment. It's definitely a short one that passes so quickly - but one that you will remember the rest of you life. HOLLER!

They ARE My Best Friend
OY! Gone so long. My Bad.
Anyway, BIG NEWS!! I got my first pair of diamonds!! Hallelujah... I'm part of THE CLUB. Yes, the Girls-Who-Get-Diamonds Club. And you know what, it feels good. For this HOT DAG, non-corporate-whore, rockstar lawyer, it feels DAMN GOOD. They are gorgeous.
Funny thing though, I couldn't get them into my lobe holes. I know, I know - jokes begin here, but I couldn't screw them in (they're specially made for clumsy girls who lose things consistently and you can screw the posts in so you never lose them.) But you know what, with a bit of patience, strength, and relaxation, they worked it out, went in, and now look beautiful.
Kind of a metaphor, huh? Sooner or later, you can make things connect.
